Lesley Ann Manville - Phantom Thread
Lesley Ann Manville OBE is an English actress of theatre, film, and television.
Manville frequently collaborates with director Mike Leigh. For her work in his films All or Nothing (2002) and film Another Year (2010), she won the London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actress of the Year. For the latter, she also won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actress. Manville has received two BAFTA Film Award nominations, both for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Another Year (2010) and Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread (2017). For the latter role, she also received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is also known for her role in Maleficent (2014).
Manville's extensive stage career includes roles in As You Like It (RSC 1985), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (RSC 1986), His Dark Materials (National Theatre 2005), The Alchemist (National Theatre 2006), All About My Mother (Old Vic 2007) and Six Degrees of Separation (Old Vic 2010). In 2012, she was nominated for an Olivier Award for her role in Leigh's play Grief (National Theatre 2011), before winning the 2014 Olivier Award for Best Actress for her role in the revival of Ghosts (Almeida 2013).
