Lucas Hedges

Lucas Hedges was born in 1997. He is an actor, known for Manchester by the Sea (2016), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).

Son of Susan Bruce (Titman), a poet, and Peter Hedges (Peter Simpson Hedges), a writer, director, novelist, and playwright.

His paternal grandfather, The Rev. Robert Boyden Hedges, was an Episcopalian minister, and his maternal great-grandfather, The Rev.

Dr. V. Carney Hargroves, was president of the Baptist World Alliance.

As of 2017, he has appeared in 2 films that have been Oscar nominated for Best Picture: The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and Manchester by the Sea (2016).

He is the first male aged 25 or under to have received an Academy Award nomination for acting since Jake Gyllenhaal for Brokeback Mountain (2005) (age at the time of nomination).

Hedges and Dev Patel are the first and, as of 2017, the only males born in the 1990s to have received an Academy Award nomination for acting (both were nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 2016 films, Hedges for Manchester by the Sea (2016) and Patel for Lion (2016)).
